Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Patallacta
The Classic Inca Trail begins at check point Km 82, Ollantaytambo. From Km 82, the trail gently descends following the Urubamba River, into Patallacta archaeological site. You can explore the Inca terraces leisurely as Patallacta will be your campsite. From this base you will visit the nearby ruins of Wayna Q’ente and/or Llactapata.

Patallacta – Llulluchapampa
This day covers more ground and enables a shorter walking distance allowing for adjustment for the next day which is more challenging. Beginning with an early start at your campsite you will ascend visiting ancient Inca temples and ruins along the way until you reach your campsite at Llulluchapampa.

Llulluchapampa – Phuyupatamar
As the most challenging day, the trail climbs to the Dead Woman‘s Pass. From the pass the trail will then descend towards the Pacaymayo River until it rises again for the accent of the second pass of the day, the ruins of Rukuraqay. The route then drops into Chaquicocha finally leveling out slightly to arrive into camp Phuyupatamarca.

Phuyupatamarca, Machu Picchu & Cusco
The trail will gently descend to the Sun Gate, the original entrance to Machu Picchu. Here you will receive a guided tour of all the significant sites while learning about Incan history and culture. You will have free time to explore Machu Picchu and visit the Inca Bridge. Then you descend into Aguas Calientes and board an a train to Ollantaytambo and continue to Cusco via van.
