Arrival Lima – Welcome To Peru
Your family vacation with Southern Peru Explorers begins the moment you land here in Peru. Upon arrival to the Lima airport, just search for our Southern Peru Explorers staff member who will be holding a sign with your name on it. We will chauffeur you to your chosen hotel and assist with anything you may need. In the afternoon, we’ll offer you an optional city tour of Lima, which includes the famous sites of San Martin Plaza, Jiron de la Union, and the San Francisco Monastery and

Explore Lima
You will have the full day to explore Lima as you please. We suggest that you check out the trendy neighborhoods of Miraflores and Barranco, where you can go shopping, bike riding, parasailing, surfing, or catch some sun in a seaside park! Miraflores and Barranco are home to numerous museums and world-class restaurants to visit, explore, and catch a bite to eat. But wherever you go, whatever you do, you must try the classic Peruvian dish, ceviche, while in town!

Lima – Paracas – Ballestas Islands – Nazca
Enjoy a warm breakfast at the hotel, before we head towards Paracas, approximately 3.5 hours south of Lima. We will head to Chaco Harbor, where we will embark for a boat ride to the Ballestas Islands, home to a diverse array of species, such as Humboldt penguins, pelicans, Inca terns, Peruvian boobys, red-legged comortants and guanays. After the tour, we will have time to relax and eat a good lunch

Nazca – Ica – Lima
After breakfast, we will board a plane to receive a birds-eye view of the ancient, Nazca lines. Within our 30 minute ride, you will get the chance to see enormous geoglyphs in many shapes, such as a monkey, a hummingbird, a tree, a parrot, an astronaut, a dog, condor and many others. Once we land, we will eat a quick lunch before driving 2 hours to nearby, Ica. Amongst the barren desert, we will come upon a hidden oasis, Huacachina. This sea-green

LIMA TO CUSCO – FLIGHT
In the morning, you will be treated to a warm breakfast buffet at your hotel before heading back to the Lima airport for a 90-minute flight to Cusco. Make sure to keep an eye on the horizon as we transition from the Peruvian coast into the spectacular Andes mountains, the longest mountain chain in the world. EXPLORE SACRED VALLEY
We will have a jam-packed day exploring the best of the Sacred Valley. We will leave early from Cusco and drive 50 minutes to the village of Chinchero, where people still wear their traditional clothing and carry on their weaving heritage. You will learn about the traditional weaving techniques and the natural dyeing process of Chincheros, and have the opportunity to purchase weavings directly from weavers before we head onwards to the famous sites of Maras

Ollantaytambo – To Aguas Calientes
We will pick you up from your hotel early to bring you to the Ollantaytambo train station, which goes to Aguas Calientes, the small village below Machu Picchu. We will take a scenic train ride to our stop at Inca Trail Checkpoint, Km 104. Here you will meet your team: the outstanding chefs and porters who will be accompanying you along your journey to Machu Picchu . Departing by foot from Km 104, we’ll make a steady, four-hour ascent to the Winay Wayna

EXPLORE MACHU PICCHU
We will eat an early breakfast, pack up, and then take a 25-minute bus ride up the mountain to Machu Picchu . Upon arrival, you will receive a 2-hour guided tour of all of the most significant sites while learning about Incan history and culture. Afterward, you will have some free time to explore a part of Machu Picchu on your own. Some of our clients take this time to climb Huayna Picchu (ticket not included in this tour). We will then return to Aguas Calientes

CITY TOUR – SOUTH VALLEY – CUSCO
From Cusco we will head south 45 minutes to the sacred archaeological site of Tipon, terraced Inca ruins with incredible water fountains and canals, an exemplary example of Incan hydraulic technology. Afterwards, we will visit Lake Huacarpay, a dazzling laguna that was once home to the Wari, a pre-incan civilization. After Hucarpay, we will drive onwards to explore the charming town of Andahuaylillas known for its architecture and murals

RAINBOW MOUNTAIN FULL DAY TOUR
This will be our earliest day yet. We will pick you up at 3am to drive 1 hour south to the trailhead at Hanchipata. Here, we will begin walking towards the village of Pitumarca, where we will eat breakfast. Today will be full of stunning views of Ausangate mountain, crystal lagoons, scenic vistas and wildlife. Within 3 hours we will arrive at the Rainbow Mountain at an amazing, 5,200m/ 17,060ft! We will take tons of photos before descending

GOODBYE CUSCO!!!
