ARRIVAL TO CUSCO – CITY TOUR
Upon landing in Cusco, there will be a Southern Peruvian Explorers staff member at the airport to greet you. After checking in to your chosen hotel and enjoying a cup of coca tea, we will take to the cobblestone streets of the imperial city. You will see and learn about modern, colonial and Incan architecture, as well as a bit about the history and culture of Cusco. Together, we will enjoy a hearty, traditional Peruvian lunch. SACRED VALLEY, PISAC, URUBAMBA, OLLANTAYTAMBO
We will enjoy a jam-packed day exploring the best of the Sacred Valley. We will leave early from Cusco and drive 40 minutes to the educational center of Awana Cancha where you will have the opportunity to pet llamas and alpacas, and learn more about the wild camelid, the vicuña. We will continue another 20 minutes to the colonial town of Pisac. As we descend to Pisac, you will get to admire the impressive Inca terraces, constructed in the shape of a condor.

INCA TRAIL, OllANTAYTAMBO – LLACTAPATA
We will depart early from Ollantaytambo, driving approximately 35 minutes to the famous starting point of the Inca Trail, Km 82. Here you will meet your team: the wonderful porters and chefs that will accompany you on this four-day journey. Before proceeding, we will be required to show our identification and permits to the Park Ranger, but don’t worry, your guide will be responsible for this! We will pass the Vilcanota river and start our trek on Inca Flats, a series of gentle small

INCA TRAIL, LLAQTAPATA – LLULLUCHAPAMPA
From Patallacta, we will leave the Urubamba Valley and head up the Cusichaca River to Tarayoc and continue uphill to the scenic community of Wayllabamba for lunch. After lunch, we will make a steady 2-hour ascent to the Llulluchapampa campsite at 3800m/ 12,470ft. Along the way, we will take in outstanding views of the Huayanay peaks to the east, and the rugged Vilcabamba mountain range to the west. We’ll also visit one of the most exclusive sites on

Llulluchapampa – Phuyupatamarca
Today will be our most challenging day as we will be climbing two high passes, beginning with the highest point of the Inca Trail, the Abra de Huarmihuañusca, or “Dead Woman Pass,” at 4200m/ 13,779ft. We will face a steep ascent for two hours until we arrive at the top, above the clouds. We’ll do a mini victory dance before descending to the valley of Pacaymayu. Phuyupatamarca – Machu Picchu – Return To Cusco
Day six will be the highlight of our trek. We will wake up at 4:00 am to descend to the Inti Punku, or The Sun Gate, where we will catch some of the first rays of dawn, gleaming over the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu, at 2400m/7872ft. From here, we will descend 40 minutes to enter from the highest entrance point, “The House of Guardians.” Upon arrival and registration, you will receive a 2-hour guided tour of all of the most significant sites while learning about Incan history and

Good-Bye Cusco
Goodbye Cusco! We will shuttle you from your Cusco accommodation to the Alejandro Velasco Astete airport for your domestic flight back to Lima. This ends our service, but if you need recommendations for further Peru explorations let us know! you will have some free time to hike to the Inca Bridge, Watchman’s Hut, or just soak in the energizing atmosphere of Machu Picchu before returning to Aguas Calientes as a group by bus.
