INCA TRAIL PERMITS 2021

To hike the Inca Trail, you must have a permit, which we will obtain for you. The first step to booking your trek is to make sure government permits are still available for your desired start date The sites around the trail, the path itself and the cloud forest region is protected by the state to ensure responsible tourism and conservation of heritage and nature. Being rainy season expect some rain, however along with the rain comes spectacular clouds amongst the lush scenery, creating an amazing cloud forest for the all photographers.

At the tail end of the rainy season, March offers a quieter, more tranquil experience. Explore this truly magnificent Classic Inca Trail trek in a time when it is less populated, meaning more of our stunning Peruvian nature and culture all to yourself. The river is high, the birds are singing, the grass is green – get out there!

There are many months that are the ‘best’ time of year for the Inca Trail, but April has to be up there with the front runners! Fresh from the end of the rainy season, you get to enjoy the benefits of the rain in previous months, while also experiencing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

As an added bonus you can partake in the vibrant festivities of Santa Semana (Holy Week – Easter), one of the most celebrated weeks in South America.

Warm days and fresh nights is the order of the month for July. During the day you’ll be enjoying the astonishing nature of the Inca Trail in your shorts and tee’s, once the sun goes down you’ll need to bring out the Winter Woollies.

July will captivate, fascinate and mesmerize you.

August – 2021

The final month of the high season, August is a fantastic month for meeting new friends, sharing experiences and stories, all while being surrounded by the spectacular Andes ranges, the tranquil cloud forest and of course the awe and wonder of Machu Picchu. With August can come the wind, so pack for cold nights.

September is one of the best months of the year for those who want less traffic and more 1-on-1 time with the beauties of nature. Rise early with a Coca tea and appreciate a truly stunning sunrise that will be sure to both awe and instil excitement for the day ahead.

The tail end of October brings the beginning of the Rain Season, so there are many advantages to trekking over this month. As with September, the trail is much less populated than the previous three months. The days are warmer, bringing days of new experiences and opportunities to learn about the rich culture of the Inca’s.

If you appreciate photography and are looking for stunning cloud forest scenery, November could be the month for you! The mist envelopes the mountains, the majestic Inca ruins rise from the Andes, creating simply stunning shots that will be enjoyed by all. Make sure you pack your wet weather gear.

December – 2021

December offers similar weather to November, whilst also being kind to those on last minute trips who haven’t booked in advance. If you are in Cusco over the Christmas or New Year period make sure you get amongst the fantastic firework displays and New Year traditions – run the Plaza de Armas at midnight, wear yellow for prosperity for the coming year, run around the block with your suitcases (to encourage overseas trips)!
