The Classic Inca Trail is not an easy one! Why not resting before enjoying the great Machu Picchu ruins? An extra day can make the difference in your experience. You’ll also be able to walk at your own pace, having more time to explore around.
Machu Picchu Twice
Because coming all the way to Peru to see Machu Picchu for a bit is not enough, we give you the chance to visit twice during the same tour. This will give you extra time to hike up the extra mountains and make the best of your time there
Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Patallacta
Early morning pick up from your Cusco accommodation to drive for 2.5 hours towards km 82, the starting point of the Inca Trail, and to meet the porters and chefs. Passing Vilcanota river, we’ll start our trek on Inca Flats, a series of gentle ups and downs. After about 5.5 hours, we’ll get to the archeological site of Patallacta, where we’ll have lunch, and camp. You’ll have the afternoon off to explore the ruins and surroundings. We’ll have an early dinner and rest as we’ll start early the following day.

Patallacta – Llulluchapampa
This day we’ll leave the Urubamba Valley and head up the Cusichaca River to Tarayoc and continue uphill to the scenic community of Wayllabamba to have lunch. After that, we’ll make a steady 2-hour ascent to the Llulluchapampa campsite. Along the way, we’ll be able to appreciate the incredible views of Huayanay peaks and Vilcabamba mountain range. We’ll also visit one of the most exclusive sites: Paucarcancha fort. We’ll get to the campsite by nightfall to have dinner and rest.

Llulluchapampa – Phuyupatarmaca
The most challenging day. We’ll be going through the highest point of the Inca Trail, the Abra de Huarmihuañusca, or “Dead Woman Pass”. We’ll face a steep ascent for two hours until we arrive at the top, above the clouds. Then, we’ll make a second ascent for a smaller pass, travelling through the Runquraqay archaeological site. After the second pass, we’ll explore Sayaqmarka, before heading down to Phuyupatamarca, the cloud town. Here, we’ll camp on the Inca terraces, have a warm dinner, and sleep.

Phuyupatamarca – Machu Picchu
We’ll start our last hiking day in Machu Picchu direction. On our way there, we’ll pass by Phuyupatamarca, Wiñaywayna, and Intipata sites. From the last site, we’ll be able to appreciate the original Machu Picchu entrance, Inti Punku, or Sun Gate. Instead of walking inside the ruins, we’ll take a bus down towards Aguas Calientes, where we’ll spend the night. Dinner is not included but you’ll find lots of restaurants around.

Machu Picchu – Cusco
The most expected day! After taking an early bus up to the ruins, you’ll be having a 2-hour guided tour around the most significant spots in the citadel. You’ll also have some spare time to explore on your own. You’ll be able to get some lunch in town before taking the train back. The train will take you to Ollantaytambo where you’ll find our drivers ready to take you back to your accommodation in Cusco..

Phuyupatamarca, Machu Picchu & Cusco
The trail will gently descend to the Sun Gate, the original entrance to Machu Picchu. Here you will receive a guided tour of all the significant sites while learning about Incan history and culture. You will have free time to explore Machu Picchu and visit the Inca Bridge.
