→DAY 01
Cusco – Patallacta
Early morning pick up from your Cusco accommodation to drive for 2.5 hours towards km 82, the starting point of the Inca Trail, and to meet the porters and chefs. Passing Vilcanota river, we’ll start our trek on Inca Flats, a series of gentle ups and downs. After about 5.5 hours, we’ll get to the archeological site of Patallacta, where we’ll have lunch, and camp. You’ll have the afternoon off to explore the ruins and surroundings. We’ll have an early dinner and rest as we’ll start early the following day.

→DAY 02
Patallacta – Llulluchapampa
This day we’ll leave the Urubamba Valley and head up the Cusichaca River to Tarayoc and continue uphill to the scenic community of Wayllabamba to have lunch. After that, we’ll make a steady 2-hour ascent to the Llulluchapampa campsite. Along the way, we’ll be able to appreciate the incredible views of Huayanay peaks and Vilcabamba mountain range. We’ll also visit one of the most exclusive sites: Paucarcancha fort. We’ll get to the campsite by nightfall to have dinner and rest.

→DAY 03
Lulluchapampa – Phuyupatamarca
The most challenging day. We’ll be going through the highest point of the Inca Trail, the Abra de Huarmihuañusca, or “Dead Woman Pass”. We’ll face a steep ascent for two hours until we arrive at the top, above the clouds. Then, we’ll make a second ascent for a smaller pass, travelling through the Runquraqay archaeological site. After the second pass, we’ll explore Sayaqmarka, before heading down to Phuyupatamarca, the cloud town. Here, we’ll camp on the Inca terraces, have a warm dinner, and sleep.

→DAY 04
Phuyupatamarca – Machu Picchu – Cusco
We’ll wake up at 4 am to descend to the Inti Punku, or The Sun Gate, to appreciate the sunrise, gleaming over the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu. From here, we will walk 40 min. to get to the Guardian’s House. You’ll have a 2-hour guided tour around the main sites and temples in Machu Picchu. You’ll also have some free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. Lunch will be in Aguas Calientes. The return to Cusco is by train and van in the afternoon.
