February

The Classic Inca Trail is Closes Every Year in February every year during that month, offices of the administration have to conduct works of maintenance to ensure hikers safety, as well as the preservation of the inca trail itself to cleaning of the beautiful paths and places along, repairing of damaged floors and terraces, tidy up camping areas, cutting vegetation, and other kinds of activities needed to get everything ready for the Inca Trail to reopen in March.

March

At the tail end of the rainy season, March offers a quieter, more tranquil experience. Explore this truly magnificent Classic Inca Trail trek in a time when it is less populated, meaning more of our stunning Peruvian nature and culture all to yourself. The river is high, the birds are singing, the grass is green – get out there!

April

There are many months that are the ‘best’ time of year for the Inca Trail, but April has to be up there with the front runners! Fresh from the end of the rainy season, you get to enjoy the benefits of the rain in previous months, while also experiencing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. As an added bonus you can partake in the vibrant festivities of Santa Semana (Holy Week – Easter), one of the most celebrated weeks in South America.

May

Another of the front runners, May brings crisp, clear days and is guaranteed to deliver an experience that won’t be forgotten. Immerse yourself the rich culture that our country has to offer! Time it right, and on your return to Cusco (24th May – 5thJune) enjoy the Cusqueña Beer Festival. Relax with your family and friends and reminisce over your 4 days of mother nature at her finest!

June

June is the beginning of peak season for good reason, the weather couldn’t be better. Long, clear days and minimal wind or rain makes for fabulous days exploring and social nights chatting out under the stars or in our Social Tent. Make new friends, live new experiences! Make sure you book early to secure your space.

July

Warm days and fresh nights is the order of the month for July. During the day you’ll be enjoying the astonishing nature of the Inca Trail in your shorts and tee’s, once the sun goes down you’ll need to bring out the Winter Woollies. July will captivate, fascinate and mesmerize you.

August

The final month of the high season, August is a fantastic month for meeting new friends, sharing experiences and stories, all while being surrounded by the spectacular Andes ranges, the tranquil cloud forest and of course the awe and wonder of Machu Picchu. With August can come the wind, so pack for cold nights.

October

The tail end of October brings the beginning of the Rain Season, so there are many advantages to trekking over this month. As with September, the trail is much less populated than the previous three months. The days are warmer, bringing days of new experiences and opportunities to learn about the rich culture of the Inca’s.

November

If you appreciate photography and are looking for stunning cloud forest scenery, November could be the month for you! The mist envelopes the mountains, the majestic Inca ruins rise from the Andes, creating simply stunning shots that will be enjoyed by all. Make sure you pack your wet weather gear.

December

December offers similar weather to November, whilst also being kind to those on last minute trips who haven’t booked in advance. If you are in Cusco over the Christmas or New Year period make sure you get amongst the fantastic firework displays and New Year traditions – run the Plaza de Armas at midnight, wear yellow for prosperity for the coming year, run around the block with your suitcases (to encourage overseas trips)!
