Cusco – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata
Most of today will be spent in the car. Departing early from Cusco, we will ascend into the mountainous region of Paucartambo, slowly transitioning from high sierra to lush cloud forest. Along the way, we will visit the Chullpas of Ninamarca, ancient Aymara funeral towers once constructed for noble persons. As we descend from the mountains, we will begin to see more flora and fauna. Keep on the look-out for the Amazonian Umbrellabird

Pillcopata – Blanquillo Macaw Clay Lick
We will enjoy a delicious breakfast before taking a 30-minute bus ride to the Madre de Dios River where a boat will be waiting to take us deeper into Manu Park. We’ll spend the entire day on the boat, observing diverse wildlife on the banks of the river. Get ready to see herons, egrets, kingfishers, and the notorious king vulture with a wingspan of 1.2- 2m/ 4- 7ft. By mid-afternoon, we will dock at the village of Boca Manu for a snack and refreshing

Blanquillo Macaw Clay Lick – Boca Manu
We will spend the morning at the clay lick, watching the hundreds of macaws, parrots, and parakeets who come to the cliffside to eat the clay, necessary to their diet. We will then head upriver, returning to Boca Manu where we will stay at Boca Lodge for the evening. In the afternoon, we will explore some of the trails near to Boca Manu. Boca Manu – Otorongo Lake
We will continue upriver today, passing turtles, white alligators, capybaras, and maybe even a jaguar if we’re lucky. We’re headed to the Otorongo Lake, an oxbow lake that is home to a pack of giant otters, which we will be able to observe from a nearby tower. Meanwhile, your guide will teach you more about the jungle flora, fauna, and functionings. We will then head to our nearby lodging, Casa Machiguenga, where we will rest for the night

Otorongo Lake – Salvador Lake – Otorongo Lake
Today we will visit another oxbow lake nearby, Lake Salvador, only a 30 minutes paddle from Otorongo. Here too, we’ll observe giant otters but also other species, such as black caimans, turtles, and the prehistoric hoatzin bird. Today, unfortunately, we will need to begin heading back. We will continue observing flora and fauna as we make our way back to a lodge, situated on the Madre de Dios river. Showers and Toilets will be available.
